The wendigo depicted here is not a pretty sight (to say the least)
If you aren't familiar with the legends of the wendigo: ---excerpt from wikipedia All cultures in which the Wendigo myth appeared shared the belief that human beings could turn into Wendigos if they ever resorted to cannibalism or, alternatively, become possessed by the demonic spirit of a Wendigo, often in a dream. Once transformed, a person would become violent and obsessed with eating human flesh. The most frequent cause of transformation into a Wendigo was if a person had resorted to cannibalism, consuming the body of another human in order to keep from starving to death during a time of extreme hardship or famine.
Among northern Algonquian cultures, cannibalism, even to save one's own life, was viewed as a serious taboo; the proper response to famine was suicide or resignation to death. On one level, the Wendigo myth thus worked as a deterrent and a warning against resorting to cannibalism; those who did would become Wendigo monsters themselves.
There are other variations of the myth, but this is the one that I find most interesting. What I wanted to capture with this illustration was a wendigo who is outgrowing his host. The creature is forcing its way through the flesh it hides within. Some of the other gruesome wounds were made by the creature itself trying to satiate its own needs.
Hopefully you enjoy the wendigo, or at the very least have unsettling dreams thanks to this depiction
Feel free to let me know what you think. Constructive criticism is always welcome.

Absolutely awesome, I think that this is a fresh take on this myth. "Hopefully you enjoy the wendigo, or at the very least have unsettling dreams thanks to this depiction " I did very much enjoy it, but i'm not scared by pictures much anymore, more by video. Awesome work, maybe someone one day will use this myth as a basis for zombie plague?
Yeah, that was bad, unlike you wendigo. Creepy as hell and bet twice as fierce. Though something about the far shoulder, not sure, but seems off for some reason. Might just be me though.
I agree. Something was off about the far shoulder. It was just far enough to feel awkward, so I repositioned it. This definitely feels better, but feel free to let me know if it still looks off to you.
